A Short Synosis Of The Dead Or Alive Trilogy By Takashi Miike

September 3, 2010 by Ronald Erickson

We’re not talking about the Hollywood movies based on the video games, but the Dead or Alive trilogy by Japanese madman director Takashi Miike. These are three must see movie downloads if you’re in the mood for something strange.

Dead or Alive Part One was designed to be a way to bring together two hot Japanese stars, being Sho Aikawa, the Japanese Pacino, and Riki Takeuchi, the Japanese DeNiro, so Dead or Alive is sort of the Japanese Heat. However, it’s really nothing like Heat, and it’s sort of designed to fix the problem with that movie, being that the ending wasn’t quite the climax most viewers were hoping for.

We won’t spoil that ending for you, but save to say that it certainly solves the whole anti-climax problem. From beginning to end, the whole movie is like one big super climactic showdown. Every minute you’re going to be seeing something you’ve never seen before, something you can’t believe you just saw, and something you wish you hadn’t seen.

Dead or Alive 2 is one of those rare sequels that blows the original away, even though the original was already pretty good. Aikawa and Takeuchi are recast as two entirely different characters, that parallel their original roles in some interesting ways. Where the first is about a cop and a gangster out to get each other, this one focuses on two childhood friends who have grown up to become hitmen who donate all of their earnings to buying medicine for children in third world countries. This movie is all heart.

Interestingly, while the movie is very positive in its outlook and portrays its heroes in a positive light, the reality of violence is not simply glossed over. The first is a wild action movie, the second is a little more honest about the weight of violence on a person’s heart.

The third takes the whole series in an all new direction, going into science fiction akin to Blade Runner or Robocop, that sort of cyberpunk, androids and megacorporations sort of theme. It’s probably the least interesting of the trilogy, but it’s really interesting for how it ties the whole thing together.

If you want more after these three flicks, check out Deadly Outlaw Rekka also by Miike. It really takes the same approach to action. Everything is very over the top and surreal, and it’s all pretty exciting.

The trailer for the first movie in the trilogy proudly declares that Miike is the mad dog of Japanese film, and it’s true, that’s not just hyperbole. The guy makes something like four or five movies a year, and has created over one hundred total over the course of his career. Not all of them are of the same quality, but for just one in ten movies to be great, that’s ten great films, which is more than most directors ever get a chance to put out.

If your Internet connection is not too fast to play immediately, you can just download the files prior to playing them. So, recently I came across this place called Intelliflix and I never went back to Blockbuster again.

A Brief Synopsis Of The Film American History X

September 2, 2010 by Milagros Witt

By taking a look at this article, you will be able to get a good inside look at the film “American History X.” There are so many different things to understand and appreciate about this film, and most of these will be covered in the upcoming paragraphs. Through a plot synopsis and reflection on the nature of the film, you should be able to understand the motion picture a little better.

You might be surprised to learn that many people seem to think that this movie was based on real events. The truth is, that this is not the case. While there might be a little bit of truth in the telling of any good work of fiction, this is not the retelling of any one series of events. Perhaps the film is thought to be based on real life because it has a no holds barred approach to laying this film out in front of you. They don’t pull punches.

The movie starts rolling by introducing you to Danny Vinyard, who is still in high school. After getting in some trouble over having written a history paper on a white supremacist, he is told to write a paper on his brother Derek. Derek is Danny’s older brother and he is, for all intents and purposes, the main character of the piece.

Derek is a leader of a gang of white supremacists in the neighborhood where they live. They believe that black people are the problem with the world, and that the world might be a much better place if there were no black people. You are briefly given a reasoning for this belief, as you see Derek watch his father killed by a black drug dealer when Derek was very little. A white supremacist took Derek under his wing and brought him up with his Neo-Nazi ideals.

You learn that Derek is in jail, and see a visual depiction of what landed him there. Some black people were attempting to break into his car, when he was alerted of it and he raced outside, gun drawn. He began firing at them all, killing one and wounding another. One managed to escape. The fate of the wounded would mark one of the most graphic scenes ever depicted on film, which was Derek forcing the man to put his teeth onto the street curb and Derek stomping on the back of his head.

However, Derek is required to face his beliefs when he heads off to prison. He learns very quickly that there is no place for his beliefs, and ironically befriends a black man when they are forced to share laundry duty together. When his old history teacher visits and tells him that Danny is headed down the same path, Derek vows to change his ways for good when he gets out and move himself and his brother far away from the mess that he has made.

He is released and meets up with his girlfriend at a welcome home party. He asks her to move with her, but she refuses. He is also forced to face the man that taught him to be a white supremacist and tells him that this is no way to live. He and his brother leave, and Danny is able to finish the paper which you hear as the narration for the ending of the film.

The tragedy is the ending of the story, which while Danny narrates that hate is too much to keep up with and no one should hate anyone else, he is gunned down by a black kid in the high school’s bathroom. Powerful acting from Edward Norton (Derek) and Edward Furlong (Danny) make this film a movie that you simply have to see at least once.

Im not going to get into this too much, because theres just too much to tell in this article. Movie Rentals Online I used that as an excuse to network and teach myself the business. There is much more of communication engineering involved, but lets not dig deep into it.

Great Audition Tips

There are some basic strategies and ideas to pay attention to whenever you’re going off on the next audition in your modeling or acting career. You must present yourself in the proper manner and show everyone at the audition that you belong there and have what it takes.

You’ve got to relax. Even if you perform better than someone else, if that other person is more relaxed in their performance, the director may leave the audition feeling better about them than you. Be sure to relax your feelings and be alert but not too alert.

Comprehensive Audition Advice

In preparation for being relaxed before you hit the audition, you should get good at practicing your breathing. When you can control your breathing through deep breathing exercises, you’re going to get more oxygen to your brain and this results in an alert brain and relaxed heartbeat.

Once you enter your audition, you should pay great attention to how you shake hands with the director. Be sure to great each director with a strong professional handshake rather than a weak, limp one. This is your first and last impression so do a good job with your handshake.

Effective Audition Scenarios

Your listening skills are a big part of success on your audition. If the director is explaining to you the script and your role inside that script and you’re not actively paying attention, then you’ll look like you have no interest in truly being a part of the production. This is why you want to be relaxed going in…a relaxed state creates a better listener.

You also need to take care of yourself in terms of diet and a good night’s sleep before the audition day. There’s nothing worse than walking into an audition with red eyes from a night of partying. If you pay attention to these simple, yet effective tips, you’ll find that your audition performance improves.

Watch The Film Terminator 2: Judgment Day

August 31, 2010 by Naomi Gilliam

Terminator 2 – Judgment Day is one of the best action/sci-fi movies that has ever been put to screen. Though it may not seem like it has much to say about the human condition, it actually has a few things to say. Add to that a little bit of campy dialog and action and some wonderful cinematography and you are left with a very charming movie.

This movie pits the ragtag group of John Conner, Sarah Conner, and the Terminator against a much more futuristic Terminator known as the T-1000. The T-1000 is a nearly indestructible robot from further into the future than the original Terminator.

The heroes are trying to save the world from a global take over from the soon to be sentient machines. Sarah decides that it is possible to change the future, and goes on a quest to destroy the person that originally designed the terminators. They think that they have won by the end of the movie, but it turns out that they only delayed the, apparently, inevitable.

A large part of this movie deals with aspects of fate and destiny. People can change the future, things don’t have to be the way they were going to be. It can be changed. This is a message that could be applied to some things that people are talking about in our current political climate. Environmentalists could take that message and say “we don’t have to destroy the planet. We can still save it. We can make a difference.”

One thing that gets overlooked in this movie is part of what it is saying about the mental health system in the United States. The audience knows that she isn’t crazy, but no one in the movie seems to agree with that statement. As far as they are concerned she is completely gone.

Everyone treats her like she is nuts. The filmmakers may be trying to say that this is part of the problem with our system. If someone says something that seems outlandish, it must be mental illness. Granted what she was saying did seem very crazy, and maybe they were trying to point out how hard it was to be Sarah Conner and not really saying anything bad about our health care system, but it seems fair that it could be saying something about both.

John Conner is supposed to be the great savior of mankind when he grows up. Yet at the time of this movie he is just a kid who has had a bizarre upbringing and is starting to get into a life of crime (stealing from ATM machines). John doesn’t actually know that what his mom has told him is true anymore than the mental health professionals think its true.

The strange thing about Terminator 2 – Judgment Day is that if we take the time-traveling robots out of the equation, then we see a completely different story. Without them showing up, John is being raised by a series of foster parents and a crazy woman. He is being told crazy things that really don’t make a lot of sense. And it’s all coming from the mind of a very seriously mentally ill woman. Fortunately, the robots do so up, so instead of a story about a horribly dysfunctional family, we are instead treated to a story with some of the most amazing action sequences ever put on film.
